Hi - I've got a bath plug stuck in plug hole as bottom has fallen off it - tried a knife /magnet.anythin else?

The plug is is usually opened by turning a lever which pushes it up and down. The bit which usually attaches to that opening mechanism has fallen off so the lug is in the plug hole but the opening mechanism can't open it. I can't get the plug out - have tried with a knife and also with a magnet but neither can get it out.. obviously can't use shower or bath as the water can't drain so really need help please!

it happened to me .Empty bath out with bucket/pan, until you have got as much water out as possible. using a hammer tap the centre of your plug with a nail get a drill and small drill bit (metal) make a hole in the plug, sharp point of the drill bit goes into the indent youve made with the nail prise the plug out with a scew driver, get a new fiiting from B&Q, ...be careful electric and live mains dont go?
Have you tried calling a plumber
have you tried a plunger?
A large lag bolt with some sharp threads on it. Screw it into the plug & use a claw hammer to pull it out.
Take the cover off where the handle used to be. It should only be on with a couple of screws. Then you should be able to get to the mechanism that controls the plug and open the drain.
#1 sound good to me.Dont mess with it too much
or you could have bigger problems
Good luck
go under bath unscrew nylon nut to the p trap well ubend. be careful its a trap and holds stagnant water its known for smelling once you've done that just pull down on it till it comes out of outlet then push a screwdriver up the opening it will pop up in the bath then put the trap back and tighten nut up test it first by running some water before you put bath panel back make sure its not leaking
bust it off for now with a pair of pliers.then call a plumber to install new one that doesnt work that way
