A mattress should do you up to about 10 years depending on what type, maker and usage.
Go back to the company that you brought it off and ask to buy same mattress asking the person if you brought this mattress how long would it last and what type of warrantly is on it?
They should say about 10 years. Then tell them you brought one 2.5 years ago and can you have a refund? They should take your details and someone from the bed company will call and see the mattress.
Make sure you hav'nt a pocket spring mattress on a slotted base. It will cause your mattress to go out of shape.

All spring matress's will get lumpy very quickly. The best matress you can buy is Latex foam such as ones made by Dulopillo.
They have no springs and a foam that will shape to your body, they offer excellent comfort as there is no spring lumpyness, or noise. Also if you share a bed you cant feel it when they more (no springs to recoil and bounce).
Ive had my Dunlopillo Millenium for about 4 years and its fantastic, cost £2000 but well worth it for a solid nights sleep every night.
I've had too many to count. cheap wear out faster. expensive should last a lifetime!
My latest expensive one is eight years old and still as tough as when it started.
My friend had one that lasted 35 years, she upgraded when I had my last one.
She's far heavier than me. so, I guess she bought a good one from the start!
Advice. if lumpy, if uncomfortable, it's useless and will damage your spine. get shot and invest in a better quality one.
The modern ones are far too heavy to turn alone. you need a crane. I live alone. any offers of help..please:-)
i would say generaly 10 years aswell
however, if u feel lumps of the springs (at any time),its a good indication that its time to change it
I am rather heavy in size and I am using Slumberland which cost me about Sin dollar about $800 plus and yet this only last me for under 4 years only.
I dun think it due to our weight problem rather did the company live up to what they have claimed.I have a couple of freiends whom share the similiar problem.

5 - 10 years for the mattress to be effective in holding you in the right position.
If your getting a new one though get one of those foam things. I never knew how much a mattress could affect your sleep patterns!! (have slept like a log sinse i got the new one)

Good News , Iv,e had mine two hundred years it,s still fine but my friends change theirs every five - six years , both of them are Knackered depends where you buy from , the best nights sleep Iv,e ever known has been by using a 5" thick Feather filled matteress - Sweet dreams
Depends on the price you paid.
Cheap ones will only last a few years, expensive ones should last you a minimum of 10 years.
