Mixing only water and cement - no sand or aggregate?

I bought some cement, but no sand or aggregate, and want to fill in some holes in uneven bricks to create a flat surface to rest some boards on. Will mixing only water and cement give me a usable outcome, or is sand/aggregate a required ingredient?

Answers:
You can do this but w/o sand it will be very brittle. So basically it would be a waste of time. It will crack & break
No you will need sand to make a proper mortar usually a 4sand to 1 cement powder mix is the norm, mixing with aggregate will make concrete instead.
go to home depot and get the premixed cement that u only have to add water to. doesnt that sound easier
buy a bag already mixed yes you must have sand to make it usable
all you will get is wet cement dust, or commonly known as sludge, a.k.a a waste of money n effort
You need sand as it makes the mixture more workable add a small squirt of washing up liquid to. If you use only cement and water it will harden so fast that you will have no time to spread it. I would use one measure of cement to four of sand, three if it wants to be stronger.
You need sand, even if you also use aggregate.
You need three or four parts sand, depending on the strength required, to one part cement. If you don't use sand it ill simply wash away with the first rain, also add a dash of washing up liquid, pva glue or anti-cracking compound to the mixture to stop it cracking in the first frost you get.
yes but it very difficult to lay & it probably wont last you need to use about 5 parts sand to 1 of cement
the cement will shrink when it dries you would be better using a non shrinking grout it can be found at good builders merchants fosrock or thoro make it
if you mix cement only it tends to crack it is best to add a little sand it binds it better
sand is a must
If you just use cement, once dried it will be that fragile you come put your finger through it, use sand ether 3 to 1 or 2 to 1, ideal mix that 3 parts sand to one part cement, if you want maximum strength mix concrete which is three parts chips, two parts sand and one part cement.
sand, cement, water - no aggregate.
Sand is required, cement only will not give you a lasting mix and will be a waste of time and money.
It will work, but the cement will have no strength and it will crumble before long. Ideally, adding some sand will give it some strength as this is a mortar mix
The cement will dry hard but will crumble under load and wash away if any water passes over it. You need to mix in sand in order to have any structural integrity.
It'll be like your mums best apple crumble, and not adhere to much.

You need to mix in some softsand ( builders sand )
you must use sand as well
yes it is required
It will crumble.
feel free to do as you like as long as you arn't working on my house
It will set, but the mixture will shrink and crack. The best mix to fill in holes is 3 sand to 1 cement.
