Is it possible to re- coat teflon non-stick saucepans?
Answers:
Yes,approach the store where you bought it they should be able to point you in the right direction. Some company's that manufacture non stick saucepans offer a reconditioning service usually on an exchange bases plus a nominal fee
NO..AND ITS DANGEROUS TO KEEP USING SEVERLY DAMAGED ONES.
It is probably, but it would cost more than it would to just
go and by a new one.
There is a spray that is not expensive that I bought from a "Home Care" company. You spray it on the pots and pans etc and then put them in the oven to seal. It seemed like a great idea and worked for a while but it seemed to ware out so quickly. You would probably find that even the very latest pots and pans that are coated with non stick will eventually peel off or gradually be consumed with the food we cook in them. We have been told in our country that the teflon they use to do this is dangerous to your health so I am avoiding using these sort of pans now. I use a healthy oil (Olive) and I don't mind a little elbow grease to wash up.
I hope this has been of some help to you.
As far as recoating the old pan, I agree that it is better to just buy a new one, if you definitely want teflon. The problem is that the coating, as already pointed out, will eventually come out into your food. I cook for a living and use saute pans all night long. My suggestion is to use some good oil, like the olive oil already mentioned, and to scrub all the teflon out of your damaged pan. I would use steel wool, and make sure that you get it all. Use increasingly finer steel wool to avoid leaving deep scratches in the bottom of the pan. The smoother surface you have when finished the easier the pan will be to clean. This is my method of choice, because it doesn't involve buying a new pan.
No i would`nt try it just bin them
