What foods kill ants, like a common household food, not like raid or anything?

i have an ant problem in my backyard, what food can kill them??

Answers:
I don't know of any foods but I heard that if you use talcum powder it will suffocate them.
Try apple sauce.
cornmeal and grits. dry of course.
I don't know of foods killing them, but I do know they won't cross a line of chalk. Go get some plain chalk, smush it into a powder and put it around the area they are, you'll contain the little buggers.
instant mash potato flakes
not sure on the food..gasoline works well.and dont light it, just pour it on them
set it on fire
minute rice, or other instant foods like that that expand (potatoes, grits), uncooked/dry.apparently, the ants take it back to the colony, feed it to everyone, and then, as the pieces expand, the ants die. all you have to do is sprinkle some (you may want to break apart larger things like potatoes, but the rice you don't) around where the ants are in the yard, wait a while, and they'll all be gone!
also, crushed pepper flakes keep them away, but the ants don't eat it and die
crushed red pepper will keep them away.
It's not food, but if they're in your backyard it shouldn't hurt anything. Dish soap. Put some in a spray bottle with water, kills them quick, washes away clean, and no poisons.
I read where grits work you sprinkle it on and around the ant hills and they will eat it and carry it back to to the nest they will need to drink and then EXPLODE! as the grits swell.
good luck I am trying this now.
actually i always use Windex and it works great
mix any thing sweet with washing powder. What happens is the ants take the food to the queen which kills it.and the ants. Also they don`t like white pepper, cinnamon, you just sprinkle this on the ground where they are and they run.i have tried this my self in my garden.worked g8
THERE IS ONE THING THAT YOU MUST NOT DO AND THAT IS KILL ANY CAUSE IT SENDS OUT A SCENT AND THEN MORE ANTS COME.
HOPE I HAVE HELPED YOU WITH THIS PROBLEM.
GOOD LUCK.
Boric Acid Powder can be mixed with jelly.

A very long time ago, I had an ant problem. A friend of the family, who used to work in pest control, told me about Boric Acid Powder. Boric Acid powder can be purchased at any drug store.

I mixed the powder with jelly and put the mix in a straw, or on an old jar lid. I placed the jar lid, or the filled straw, near the ant hills, or in the area where the ants trailed.
The ants took the boric acid powder laced jelly back to their nests and eventually the stuff killed the ants.
I had to do this for several weeks, replacing the powder-jelly mix whenever I saw the supply was low.
After a few weeks, I noticed a decrease in ants and then eventually there were no ants.

I did a google search and found an interesting web site.

The website below has a recipe that uses sugar and cotton balls.
