Hi Guzz here again RE- wanting to get rid of excess water from around sides of the bath?
someone asked for more info. Shape around bath is similar to a slice of melon. at its widest, its a half a tile. Like idea of bead to raise and slope towards bath. Had mosaic tiles around but grouting decayed due to water collection. The base is made of MDF. Im willing to raise and slope to bath, but concerned how to make this safe and strurdy. I suspect I would have to raise 2-3 inches to ensure water flows into bath when showering. Can anyone describe this as simple as possible. I want to do it myseslf,
Answers:
First off, your problem is the base.
MDF is NOT water friendly! It will soak up water like a sponge and swell, thus, any type of water that gets under or around it, will utterly destroy the MDF.
If you have tile, why didnt you use some concrete backerboard, for the base? Thats the perferred method, as it wont absorb the water, and self destruct under the tile.
Rip it all out and start all over again, using the concrete backer board over your sub floor, so that you will have a good base.
Put some "thin-set" under the concrete backerboard so that it doesnt "move", then, drill holes into the backerboard and screw it down tight. Now, your ready to put the thing set and tiles on the floor and get it right this time.
I wish you well..

strurdy myseslf,
Man, you can't even spell. What makes you think you can tackle a water problem?
i assume the problem is from wall to bath, take all old stuff off and out so you have clean area to work from, you could move the bath including pipes &drain .raising bath you could rase 1/2 to3/4 inch and lower other end and then seal properly if the gap is big try packing out with wood cut to fit then seal and tile
