How do I detect my boundary water stop valve?
23 ish year old Barratt house. It's not visible where it ought to be at the end of the drive as it is on other houses on the estate.
Answers:
start with your water bill. call the number on the bill and tell them you need to know where your shutoff is. if that doesn't work, call a plumbing contractor or a leak locator. they have equipment to trace pipes and can find your shutoff valve.

Quite often there are a number of houses served by the same stop vale in the street, maybe the one sited next door or wherever will also switch off your supply
It will be in a similar place to others. If yours is missing then I expect they tarmac'd over it.
what a coincidence!.I was just thinking that people are all boring and consumed with completely trivial subjects, then I though to myself 'no they're not'.but then you asked that question and proved me right.hallelujah!.I am still alive! thank you baby jesus, now where's the bus?
Sounds like Barratt are living up to there reputation.
It may be in a flower bed, if the drive has been moved from when the house was built.
If not you will have to talk sweetly to your neighbours, and switch theres off, and see what happens.
If that does not work, a metal detector would be a good start.
There will definately be one somewhere, if only for the location of a proposed water meter. give your local water company a call, somebody may have covered it over when the pavements were laid and the stop valve is their reponsibility, they would need to locate it if you had an emergency.
Contact the local water company, they should have a service to do just what you want. Three Valleys Water (Hertfordshire) charge £40.
Try the water board they should know.
