set the TV up, put the mattress in front of it and then order a takeaway before christening the lounge.
clean it top to bottom to remove every trace and smell from the previous occupants

i've moved house quite a lot,and the first thing i do is make sure the kettle,tea bags,milk and sugar are on hand.enter the new house,make a cuppa,and start emptying boxes,within 2 days my house looks like i have lived there for months,having said that i'm a dab hand at it now,so i pack everything perfect and know which box goes in which room.
It would be folly not to christen each room.

This one is easy. Scrub the bathroom as if your life depended on it. Then go out and buy a new toilet seat.
Clean it and unpack. Put up the bed and find the towels,soap.shampoo,etc.
Change the locks - in case there are keys with neighbours.
