Conservatory condensation?
i hvae had a conservatory on my house now for 3 years, and at this time of year it is very cold and full of condensation and it dosent get used much, what is the best way to elimate the condensation, add air flow or improve heating?
also any other ideas are apreciated,
ps i have a dehumidifier but its a pain to empty all the time
Answers:
If it is open to the remainder of the house - more local heating is required.
If it is closed off, ventilation works. Cerial Killer has it about right.
heating and ventillation is the only cure really
de humidifier. its the only way, it works had one for 5 years,God send.
if you are too lazy to empty, then don't complain about it. do it.
Keep it heated and open a window for a short time each day .We had a problem with condensation in this house when we moved in but since central heating was installed and place heated all round we haven't been bothered at all.
ventilation is the best cure for condensation
heating will cost you, so depends how much you want to spend
and whether its less pain that emptying the dehumidifier
hey gavin,
you have to know whether it is permanent condenation or not.
first, as others suggest, you need to open the windows and turn the heater on or move the washing machine away. even a dehumifier.
If that fails,
it is probably permanent!
some air particles may get dislodged in a window, i.e. when it is installed, and when the window ages, it allows moisture in between the panes. When the sun comes, it aggrevates it. Normally, this would not be a problem because there is a fluid between panes to avoid this, but sometimes it runs out.
In the USA, guys can come and redo the window fluids. They drill a small hole and suck the stuff out, clean the insides, then pump fluid in.
However, in the UK it's not the common answer. Probably need a new window.
