Garden wall builder?
Need a garden wall built across front of a normal semi in Solihull, Birmingham
So far have arranged 5 appointments with different builders and only 1 even turned up ! why are they so unreliable?

Well it is not as they are unreliable it is because there is a shortage of brick-layers. So wait for another 2-3 weeks because work becomes short then, and you can get the job done cheaper. But still get it in writing.

Go and try registered people such as with Marshalls. Try others as well but do not go for non registered people unless they are known as being good and reliable and are willing for you to take up references of previous jobs.
Otherwise learn to bricklay yourself.
Building a wall is not rocket science, I have built about 500 yards of walls in my yard. Pick up a book and look into it. There are two ways, basically, dry set, or with cement.
If the wall is going to have any dirt behind it, you will need weep holes so that it does not operate like a dam.
