Ariston Eurocombi Boiler Shutting Down - Lighting Shutdown?!?
My Ariston Eurocombi Boiler shuts down around 10 seconds after the flame lights. An LED light comes on which is marked "Lighting Shutdown". Pressing the Flame Ignition button relights the boiler, but only for 10 secs. During the 10 seconds it sounds like the boiler is trying to light even though the flame is already lit.
I am guessing there is some kind of thermostat that checks that the flame is lit, and shuts down for safety if it thinks that there is gas being let out with no flame.
Am I right? And how on earth can this be fixed? Our Landlord has called out a boiler firm who seem to be clueless! Please HELP!!
Answers:
Possibly faulty thermocouple. That's the little safety gizmo that shuts off the gas if it doesn't think there's a flame.
Not too expensive to replace.
I agree with the thermocouple
Yup,it's probably the thermocouple playing up it is a flame failure device that is telling the boiler that the flame is out and to turn the gas off. Only a few quid to replace one.
