Who do I phone to find out who supplies my gas?

you phone the people who send your gas bills.
your local chamber of commerce, listed in the phone book, should be able to tell you who your provider is. this is how i found mine when i moved to a new city and state. jmc
ring british gas if its not them they will tell you who it is then try to get you to change to them but at least you will find out who it is
