My gas cooker wont stay lit?

to ignite my cooker, i have to push in the temperature knob and press the ignition button at the same time. It lights okay, and the gas comes through, but as soon as i release the temperature knob the gas goes out. Does anyone know what might be causing it?

Answers:
You may have a faulty thermocouple. You will need to call in an engineer. Won't take long to fix.
Check the pilot light.
Try to light your grill without using the ignition button.

I was having that same problem.
Mine is a basic gas cooker...it does the same especially the oven Hold it in a little while longer after it ignites. if it still doesn't work then there must be a problem with the flow of gas. You should get a gas repair man in.
Regulator switch may be faulty, also they have a safety cut out device called a "flame failure device" that goes faulty too, call a corgi registerered repair man or get a new cooker cos if it's the FFD it may be 50-70 pounds to get replaced.
mine was so silly ,all i had to do was lift the lid up, it wont work with the glass top down, that bit of info cost 35 quid, not a very nice gas man,to replace the regulator he wanted 110 quid, id rather just lift the lid up xx
Clean off the thermocouple and try it again, if it still doesn't work change the thermocouple
have u payed your gas bill?
