How do you keep wasp's away when your having a picnic?

Apart from putting jam or beer in a glass which have never worked, does anyone know a good way of keeping wasp's away from you when your outside having a picnic

believe it or not,a spray bottle with water in it.wasp's hate water.
take a 2 liter of coke and set it on a table or somewhere away from you, take off the cap and just leave it there, the wasps go in but they can't come back out. Just don't use diet soda it won't work.

Citronella candles or tealights. You can buy them in most garden centres or sometimes even the major supermarkets.
Talk to them nicely, tell them that the people over the way there have loads of jam and sticky things and loads of kids who flap their arms around, to have a bot that has a sting they have to be clever creatures, they will surely understand and leave!
