How do I use Araldite Epoxy adhesive as a filler?
Answers:
The basic answer here is that you shouldn't. Why would you want to do this anyway? Araldite is quite expensive and is only suitable for use as an adhesive as it is very thick. I am presently working as a fibre glass laminator (I make those walk in baths). Consider using an automotive polyester filler, it is easier to sand and will give a better finish. If it absolutely has to be epoxy based, contact your local G.R.P supplier and get some epoxy resin, hardener, accelerator and ask if they can supply either fillite or wood flour. Mix the resin and hardener at a ratio of 2 resin to 1 hardener and then add about 5% in weight accelerator (i.e for 1 kg of mixed resin add 50 grams of accelerator) and mix. Next mix in the fillite/wood flour to get the desired consitency, as a filler I would go quite thick and then paint over the filled area with normal epoxy resin to get a smooth finish. - Please be aware this stuff is expensive and will probably cost you around £20 per kilo plus delivery and many places have a minimum order requirement.
