i have recently started selling odds and ends that i dont want anymore, cds, dvds, books, etc, just to make a bit of spare money for christmas, i have managed to get a few hundred pounds, definately worthwhile if you have good quality stuff you dont want/need
I do buy and sell on eBay. I don't think I have made a substantial profit off of selling, but it's a good way to get rid of stuff that you don't want anymore. I've bought some good things from there -- good place to get things in bulk like bookmarks. Right now, I'm bidding on stuff to decorate my new house!
I've done both. I made a few bucks on what I sold, but have never considered doing it full time. There are just too many things on eBay your chances of getting lost in the masses is too great.
well i just bought 2 TVs and I got a free DVD player on ebay and i emailed the seller to ask how he can offer them so cheaply and he said he buys in bulk from the manufacturer, JVC and Toshiba are his main items so ask - ebay name - bestpricetrading and ask everything
i buy and sell one ebay. i sell small things so i usually don't make too much money. I sold my old cell phone, mp3 player, textbooks, euros from a past trip, and comic books. the comic books are what i specialize in.

I really like eBay, and I sell all sorts of things on there. I probably sell mostly clothes and textbooks (I'm a college student) and while I don't make a ton on most of my clothes, I've probably made a few hundred dollars over the past two years on all the stuff I've sold. I've learned that oddball things go great and stuff you'd think would sell (like a brand new Coach mini iPod case) don't sell. My aunt bought a beaver-skin purse at a garage sale for $5 and sold it for over $300 on eBay- just an example of the luck you may have on there to offset the bad luck like the Coach example. If you decide to sell on there, my advice is to describe stuff very accurately. Think about what you would want to know if you were the one looking at your listed item. As far as the shipping, you might want to go and just weight like a heavy book and see how much it costs to ship it to the other side of the country, just to get an idea of what shipping costs. Don't forget to add in the cost of the packing materials (envelope, box, tape) because shipping is expensive. On the other hand, be fair, if it doesn't cost you fifteen bucks to ship it don't charge somebody that much. The best way is to think of what YOU think of when you look at things on eBay. Keep in mind eBay takes a small (fair) percentage, and there's a listing fee. You don't have to bother with all the fancy backdrops and subtitle and what not, just complete a listing form. I do recommend a photo which costs nothing, and a gallery costs less than .50 and seems to help my stuff sell. Definetly take time to check out eBay's listing fees.
I do buy on eBay, but not much. I've bought makeup (new MK), some belly dancing stuff, books on half.com, and other odds and ends. Just watch the seller's ratings and read the description carefully. All in all a careful sellers can make money and careful buyers can find great deals, just do your homework before doing either. Happy eBaying!
