Isn't it very early for holly berries?

the holly tree up the road has loads of red berries

Answers:
I saw a holly bush covered in berries just today and thought the very same thing. I have also wondered about all the haws on the hawthorn bushes but remembered the same bushes weighted down in beautiful may blossom some months ago because of the wonderful weather. I just wondered why there were such a lot of haws on the ground and they seemed to have ripened really early too. There is an old saying that when the bushes are heavy with fruits it is the sign of a hard winter to follow. Something to do with food for the wildlife.but if the fruit is falling already there won't be much left on the trees by winter.
no beause its been lots of rain itll grow faster and it might die cause it might drown
no holly berries com early fall and last pretty much thru early mid winter.
sometimes they come earlier do to all the funky weather.
It is fair to say that a good growing season will bring the ripening of fruit forward a little. Perhaps ( dependant on area) the fine weather of this year has hastened ripening. A local bush had fully ripe berries during August. The blackbirds will eat them all, long before Christmas.
