What will happen if i wash a pair of 'Dry Clean Only' trousers?

They are a wool mix of some kind - mostly wool with acrylic and other stuff, forgot to look at the label again for details (they're still in the shop!)

Answers:
probably shrink them, theres a reason why they r dry clean only
do it and find out?
They usually are fine, I do it all the time personally. Just dry clean every month or so, all the other times I wash, on a 40 wash.
They could shrink!
I would only wash them cold but be warned you may ruin them

Good LucK!
they might possibly shrink.especially if the water is hot.
try it then u will find out. you migh be surprised
I washed dry clean stuff on a very low temperature and don't spin long, my things are okay. Or don't buy them if they still in the shop. !
They will shrink
Nothing if you wash them carefully , but you will have to press them carefully and they may become more limp
They will shrink enough to fit an action man!
You will speak in a high pitched voice and everyone will see you are wearing odd socks!
on a wool wash or delicate setting they will be fine
Not too sure honey as I have had the same and mistakenly washed them and they were OK, i have also hand washed and they have been OK but then I have had the same and washed or hand washed and they were ruined. so it is up to you what you do. dry clean or wash them yourself.
they could shrink,,, be very careful and wash on a delicates wash,, don't tumble day.. if all else fails and they do shrink, take em back
they may shrink
they'll shrink and go all wrinkly
If you wash them by hand in cool water, probably nothing (wool doesn't shrink when wet otherwise you would get midget sheep in the rain), but I wouldn't want to risk it.
Wash them on a cool wash and a short spin, but don't tumble dry for very long or they will just shrink,if you have a cool setting on your tumble dryer try that for a short while, and see how they are, then use your own judgement but they should be ok
from my experence they can either shrink or in my case they fell apart. i wouldn't sugest washing them. if there not to dirty they have a home dry clean kit at the store where you put it in a bag and put it in the dryer. if it has stains that you need to get out take it to the dry cleaner
put them in your washer on a wool wash, they,ll be fine. i did this with my husbands £120 lacose jumper, i was a bit worried at first but it was as good as new. i dont take anything to be dry cleaned.
They may shrink slightly but if you wash them on a low temperature should be ok use the wool wash setting on washing machine or hand wash them but do not put in tumble dryer
they will shrink
they might become ruined.. but i don't know in what way.
i washed a hand wash sweater in the machine and it got holes in it and it was all fuzzy and ruined.
Are the trousers lined? Most often it is the nasty linings that are used in dry clean only clothes that need s to be dry cleaned.
I have washed some of my dry clean only clothes that have not been lined. Some have been ok, but anything that has 'body' to it, as in the material is heavier, the item my look a bit limp and washed.
Have you considered using the sheets that go in the tumble drier for freshening dry cleean clothes and if they become marked there is a solution that you can buy in the supermarket that blots stains out of dry clean and silk clothes.
Hope this helps!
you might have trouble sqeezing into them.dry clean only is what it means
Probably nothing. I realised years ago that I could save a fortune in dry cleaning bills by using warm water and something like Dreft or another mild hand-wash soap. If an item of clothing is far too precious to chance, I don't wash it.

I once washed a mohair sweater and it shrank considerably. However, with careful, steamy ironing, I stretched it out to original size, so don't panic.
They may shrink over time. I often wash dry clean only clothes and then line dry them.
they might shrink, try it with cold water and let hang dry if you put in the dryer they will shrink for sure
possibility they might shrink especially wool mix, but alot of dry clean stuff washable, tread carefully .
they will shrink
