Does anyone know a home-made remedy for removing odour from smelly trainers/football boots after exertion?

Answers:
old pair of tights, cut them in half and tie the ends then fill with crushed burnt toast and put inside the tights then tie. put one in each shoe by morning it should be de-ordorised
baking powder....
wash'em just a thought
bi-carbonate of soda just sprinkle it in and leave then suck out with hoover
fill a freezer bag with cat litter and put into your footwear, it absorbs all the nasty odours
yes its called shopping. Throw the old ones out and buy new ones.
or
put them in the washing machine
baking soda in the shoe will absorb all the sweat, odour and mank!
do a wee wee in them or do a poo in them if that dont work sell them on ebay
Tie them in a pillow case and put them in washing machine at a quick wash cycle;)
Stick a tea bag in the end of each one and then some orange peel, this will absorb the moisture and eliminate the stinkiness!
Sand blast them its the only way, to get out those stubborn smells
always use thick socks.. change your socks after every match. dont use the same socks for other shoes vice-versa. let them airdry outside the house especially in the sun for about half an hour. otherwise, just a couple of pieces of charcoal and shoe deodorant might do the trick.
Put cat litter (the absorbant kind) in them overnight.
baking soda should hold you over til you go out & buy some febreez anti-bacterial spray
fill them with clean dry cat litter overnight.
I read in some old girls mag that hairspray works. Haven't a clue if it really does..
THE BEST AND CHEAPEST REMEDY I KNOW AND HAVE TRIED IS BY PLACING A PIECE OF BURNT TOAST IN THE SHOE IT MAGICALLY REMOVES ALL OF THE SMELL! CLEVER!
bicarbonate soda
bicarbonate soda or cat litter in a old pair tights
Yes, certainly do. I found this remedy about 10years ago & it works a treat + makes sense.

You need to have 2-3 pairs of trainers if their being worn daily otherwise provided their not worn for 3 consecutive days one is fine.

The reason for this is that when people suffer with perspiring feet, their shoes soak up the perspiration & if the shoes dont get time to dry out properly prior to the next time their worn, then you end up with a constant buildup of perspiration & they become smellier & smellier.

Also stick them in a sealed pillowcase or a zip up lingerie bag in the washing machine at least once a month & let them dry thoroughly before they are worn.

Then once their dry & prior to each wear, sprinkle to inside with bicarbonated soda or baking soda.

The soda helps to absorb the sweat & smell, sprinkle them again as soon as they come off the feet so that this can absorb the smell over the 2-3 day rest break of wearing that particular pair & I guarantee you will never have further trouble with this issue. Good luck!! Janien :-)
hi,all you do is simply put them in a carrier bag and put them in the freezer overnight.the smell is just live bacteria.after a night in the freezer all bacteria is dead.no more smell.easy. works as many times as you like.
hang them out the window
There are two good remedies: 1) Wash them, and 2) put them in the fresh air
Shake a covering of Bicarbonate of Soda into each shoe and leave over night. Tip out in the morning and the trainers will be as fresh as daisies.
dust the inside with bicarbonated soda then leave for 24 hours
buy a 1/4 tea leaves cut the feet off a pair of tights fill each one with half the tea tie open ends put inside your shoe over night smell .will be gone by morning.it works.
carbon filters, (insoles) or place a bucket of pooh next to them. You wont notice the smell coming from them then!
