Whats the best way to clean carpets of pet hair?

Steamer perhaps?

Answers:
I use a rubber glove. It really does get rid of the pet hairs
suck it up. Thats what I do when my goldfish sheds his hair
brushes i guess go to a pet store they might have a special tool or summink
Vaccum
.Masking tape works well, but it takes a while.
old rubber glove dipped in water so its sightly wet then rub the carpet with it
Wrap ur hands in bundles of masking tape.sticky side out. Now simply get down onur hands and knees and use a sponging effect..do not scrub!
carpet vacum cleaner or a good old scrubbing brush and a boil ov hot soapy water
sticky tape
Either with a rubber glove, probably wet would be easier, or sandpaper works really well and doesn't damage the carpet. If you get a block of wood and a really fine sandpaper. or rubber soled shoes. All these work really well, especially with cat hair.
lick it up
rub the carpet/upholstery with a damp sponge and all the hairs will be picked up
I find using my tongue really works well !
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Get rid of your pets.

Just kidding.

Pet hair has a tendency to become electrically charged so it tends to stick to the carpet physically and also because of static electricity. I don't have dogs (my wife is allergic) but my sister has a bunch. When she gets to where the vacuum doesn't do a good job of pulling them out of the carpet she does 2 things. First put a new disposable bag in your vacuum cleaner. This will increase suction. Second, she has an old windex bottle that she fills with water and holds it above her head and slightly sprays so a very very fine mist reaches the carpet. This discharges the static so when you vacuum it should come up much easier. (The steamer would work on the same principle as it gets water on the carpet.)
get rid of the animals, that will stop the hair.
first you need some carpet powder designed for pet hair. It will demagnetize which will make it easier to vacuum up. I there are still problems, your vacuum may need to be cleaned. Hair trapped in the brushes will prevent further hair from being picked up.
Buy a vacuum that works.
Wipe over with a sponge, it works wonders.
MAYBE THIS COULD HELP !!

A good vacuum or a damp rubber gove rubbed over the area - obviously better if a small carpet, not a large one!
My vacuum never seems to get all of the pet hair, either. I bought (I think from Target) a broom that has rubber bristles. I brush this lightly on the carpet and it pulls up all of the hair.
vacuum really good, several times if needed. The hairs will clog up the steamer.
I have a dyson vac and it is great at getting pet hairs up
Try wearing a pair of trainers with rubber soles and wipe your trainers up and down the worst areas several times, the pet hairs will make a pile on top of the carpet, hoover up as normal.
It's cheap and easy!
It sounds stupid but if you put on some shoes with grips on the soles and drag your feet across the carpet it really lifts it up. Especially if you're wearing rubber soles!
