How do I get rid of orange stains on the toilet brush. I live in a very hard water area?
After a few weeks of purchasing the toilet brush is always discoloured. Is there a particular cleaner you can use? Does bleach work? How do you best administer it?
Answers:
Get a package of Iron Out from your local hardware store.
Instructions are on the package.

I tend to leave the toilet brush sitting in its holder with bleach in it and it works for me.
A cleaner called CLR works great.
Aaahhh Ruff man..Just leave it in Bleach..I just got a Mental Picture
just buy a new one.
I also leave my toilet brush sittting in bleach.
eugh! I cant stand toilet brushes. Its like leaving bits of poo and wee in a cup next to your toilet. get one of the ones with disposable ends that you flush down the pan.
The orange stain you are referring to is from fluoride in the water.
Soft Scrub with bleach helps prevent the discoloration.
at the hardware store--rust out--it is a chemical that will remove rust which is why the orange color appears-way better than bleach because it takes away the rust rather than just the orange color
This stain is a form of lime scale. soak it in a cleaner designed for eliminating lime scale. Harpic do one and I bet Cilit Bang have one. Soaking in bleach only whitens the scale, it does not get rid of it.
There is probably a tablet of some sort to put int the cistern which could stop lime getting into the toilet bowl. Ask at a good hardware store.
I'd recommend getting rid of the old style brush and buying one of the long handled types with disposable, flush-away pads. Not only are they easier to keep clean, the pads contain a strong cleaning agent and they're flushable. Some also contain a lime-scale removing chemical as well. Not only that, but it also means you don't have a smelly, germ-infested brush laying around in your bathroom !
buy a new one
they are only 99p in Ikea
you'll spend more time, effort and money cleaning the old one
Yeah i always leave my toilet brush in bleach
try a product called Iron out. If it is a really tough stain ask a plumber to recommend something
Just leave the brush in it's holder, in bleach, overnight. Works a treat.
you coudl get a disposable one
soak in a mix of spirit of salts and water
old house rumoured bleach and vigour (vigour can do a lot of things there's book you can get all to do with vigour),stains soft water hard water etc.
