Suitable Tree?

Could anyone suggest a Broad Leaved tree which does not shed it's leaves in Winter and will provide shade in the Summer.

Answers:
Why not try a Cherry Laurel, Prunus laurocerasus. That is evergreen and will provide as much shade as you want. It can be pruned in which ever way you like.
There is no broad-leaved tree that doesnt shed its leaves. My personal favorite is Sweet Chestnut, second is weeping beech. If you really dont want leaves, a Pinus will shed only needles, but it gives little shade. Sorry!
Magnolia grandiflora is a large evergreen tree, but it still sheds leaves. Same with Quercus virginiana, Southern Live Oak. Of the 2, I'd go with the Live Oak for a shade tree; the magnolia tends to branch very low. Both require at least zone 7 or warmer, the oak really prefers at least zone 8.

"Evergreen" whether referring to broadleafed or conifers, just means that it doesn't drop all its leaves at once- it drops them a little here and a little there all through the year.
You could try an Oak. Oak trees generally don't lose most of their leaves until spring when the new leaves push them out. They will still loose their leaves in the spring however until the new ones grow in.
You could try tall evergreen specimum shrubs instead, like Stranvaesia, Rhododendron, Holly, Eucryphia nymansensis, to name a few, just a thought!
