How dry does grass have to be to cut it?
I really need to cut the grass but it's slighty wet, dew from lasst night/this morning. It's been sunny all morning so I would have thought it would have dried, but hasn't. Is it still safe to cut it?

It is better to wait until the grass is dry. If you cut it while it is wet, you clog up the shoot where the grass flies out (done it before) so you have to keep clearing it away. also you could spread disease around your lawn.
Cutting the grass while it is wet does NOT cause disease, merely spreads it around your lawn. That is the absolute worst time to mow because the water mixed with the newly cut blades and you going all over your lawn just spreads it and it makes it easier for the disease to infect your lawn. Now, that is only if you have a problem!
You can cut your grass whenever you want, but when it is wet just makes a really big mess!
Yep, it is
yes its safe to cut it but you just wont do as neat a job as you would if it was dry and your mower might clog up a bit
Depends on your grass cutter if petrol it will cut but electric don't mix with water or damp you may get shock
if you have a petrol lawnmower you should be ok but wait for a little while if you have an electric one for obvious reasons!
If the grass doesn't stick to the bottom of the mower, it's ready to cut.
The grass should be dry. Cutting it wet will cause fungus to build up Also the lawn mower blades should be sharp.
A little bit of wetness is ok with an electric mower, but ideally cut when it is dry. It's best not to let it get too long this time of the year, and indeed through to next summer, if we have a mild winter, as the longer you leave it, the more the problem to get it dry enough to cut. I cut mine occasionally, during winter, for this reason.
The rotation of the blades are strong enough to spray the water away from the motor rather than into it. Although I wouldnt cut the grass if it is extremely drenched as the grass is more elastic & will seem harder to cut than dry grass. Also the blade will need to be serviced if it gets wet which will result in rust & then bluntness.
Hi there, You mentioned that it is sunny, this is the worst time to cut your grass especially if it is damp or wet. If you cut it while sunny, it scorches the grass and will kill it in patches. It is best to leave it until the sun goes in first, then it doesnt cause any harm if it is wet although it is an extra pain when wet as it sticks everywhere and cloggs things up more easily. I hope this helps!
