Should you brush your gums?

My mum told me you should gently brush your gums when brushing your teeth. I dont listen to what my mum says much, so i want to know other peoples opinions.. Should you brush your gums to keep them healthy?!
Answers:
Yes with toothpaste and very gently.
no i have never heard of that it would just make them bleed.
Yes. If you haven't done it for a while brush them until they bleed I(I'm completly serious) your entire mouth will be healthier.
yeah
If you have no teeth maybe brush your gums. Otherwise don't make them bleed for no reason. Just brush your tongue and teeth.
Yeah, brush them. The other answer is correct. It will bleed at first, because they are weak. But it there is continuous bleeding, you may have gingivites. Anyway, defintaly brush your gums.
maybe we should brush our lords gums
Yes, I was advised by my dentist to brush and floss. You should brush your gums to get the food out from underneath.
no you should not, they would just bleed causing gum infections!you can massage them with your finger if you want to! but flossing does the exact same thing! so floss after you brush that is the best thing to do
definitely not as it would cause your gums to bleed!
Yes, but very gently. Never brush your gums like you brush your teeth, or they will bleed like crazy.
Yes, brush your teeth, your gums very gently and then your tongue.
Its the only way to get rid of all the bacteria-- and have fresher breath too.
yes, but not too hard else they will bleed x
I brush my teeth regularly, then I take a toothbrush with a salt on it and brush my gums. My dentist said it kills the bacteria that causes gum disease.
My dentist told me that brushing your gums is what your suppose to do. You should brush them gentally to avoid bleeding and to also prevent gum decay. It also helps if you follow up your brushing with listoreen. It also helps clean your gums.

By brushing your gums, they will turn redder. meaning that they are healther.
Yes you need to brush your teeth in a circular motion getting the gums and of course the teeth you should know this because they do teach it in school but also you need to floss before you brush your teeth also the one girl was right you need to brush the tongue which removes the bacteria from the tongue I hope this helps.
Yes, you should brush your gums. Brushing your gums help prevent gum diseases and bacterial infections. Did you know what 90% of the population over 30 have gum disease? Gum disease is the primary reason people lose their teeth. The key is brush your gums gently though. Vigorous brushing can make the gums pull away from the teeth and can scratch your tooth enamel.
Not brushing really but massaging the gums gently with your finger greatly improves the blood circulation. If done on a regular basis it will lead to healthy gums.
No
yes its important to brush your gums, especially when going to bed coz your gums contains lots of Bactria thats whats makes peoples mouth smell so bad
ONLY IF you use a soft toothbrush(and not the medium or hard) then just gently sort of massage the gums, Its called massaging of the gums and not brushing. You could do that alternate days, that helps to remove the dead cells on the surface.
If you don't like the feel of toothbrush on the gums, u can use a piece of gauge cloth wrapped around the clean index finger(that is how they clean teeth of babies in whom you can not use a tooth paste or tooth brush)
There are also finger caps available for gum massaging!
Hope this helped!
oh yeah but lightly
You should really be careful when brushing the gums because you don't wanna brush it so hard that it bleeds & cause gingival recession.

You should brush at your gumline to get rid of the subgingival plaque there. And use soft brush heads for brushing the gums n use gentle movements.
It is important to stimulate your gums to keep them healthy, just ask your dentist.

Lightly brushing them is good, using a gum stimulator pick is good. My dentist even told me to massage them with my finger whenever I could.

If they bleed it is proof you are not stimulating them enough.
Gum brushing should be part of your daily teeth cleaning regimen. If they bleed, then that is because you are not doing this correctly, and probably are using a tooth brush rather than a gum brush. Anyone that does not brush their gums is asking for future tooth, mouth, and gum trouble. Brushing your gums is actually stimulating the gums to keep them healthy. Gum brushes are super soft to help prevent damage to the gum tissue and bleeding. See the link for one type gum brush.
While you are at it, turn the brush and massage the inside of your lips and inner mouth with the brush.

Yes - If you don't your teeth will drop out in 20 years. I'm a dental nurse so I know what i'm talking about. Hold your brush with a pen grip ( between thumb and first finger) and massage your gums with a gentle circular motion. They will bleed for the first few days but this will stop as their health improves. Do this after youv'e cleaned your teeth and you'll get nice pink gums instead of red swollen ones. It will also help cut down on bad breath!
YES YES YES you should be brushing your gums. It may make them sore at first and they may bleed a little but dont let that stop you. I tell my patients to compare it to exercise, after the first time you exercise your muscles are sore but the more you exercise the more you get in shape and then your muscles dont get sore. Its the same concept. Brushing gentley on your gums helps keep them clean and helps prevent gingivitis (red puffy inflammed gums that may or may not bleed easily) and also helps prevent periodontal disease which can lead to tooth loss. Hope this helps.
Yes! brush your gums! I was taught to do it during 'teeth brushing lessons' that I was forced to have before I had braces on. although brushing them does cause them to bleed it will stop as you continue to brush your gums because bleeding of the gums is a way of getting rid of bacteria but if you keep your gums clean they will eventually stop bleeding when you brush them!
between teeth and gum
brush teeth and gums front and back, bacteria builds up anywhere it can, so follow up with an anti bacterial mouthwash to wash away the toothpaste rather than water.
