Do employment agencies have a black list?
Answers:
no. the reputable agencies will always check your work history and status, so if you're illegal or unreliable, you'll get rebuffed.
They don't share names of employees, however.
I have found that several smaller agencies that just need bodies will let things go, you just have to be prepared to make a little less money.
Do well, earn a few good references, and you'll be accepted at bigger agencies in no time!
I don't see why they would. Within a chain of agencies they may strike you off applying for work within the whole chain if you have been unreliable or inappropriate on previous jobs.
That sounds a bit racial!
No, but we do check references so beware!!
If you have let down a specific agency in the past, they may be reluctant to use you again unless there is a very good reason! Agencies will only use you if they think you are capable of doing the job and unlikely to let them down, so if you don't come across very well when you register you are less likely to get work.
By the way, in my area (South West) it is a bit on the quiet side at the moment, so it may be that the agency genuinely haven't got any work for you!
Sounds like someone has been a bit naughty!
you mean affirmative action?
No they got a white list!
No - we don't share our info with other agencies, however, we do keep accurate records of candidates, and we also undertake background checks and references with previous employers before we consider taking them "onto our books".
If we uncover something unsavoury, we may well address it with the candidate, depending on the nature of it, but we expect total honesty from the outset anyway.
Unless you've done something really bad, like not show for an interview, or turn up inappropriately dressed, or perform terribly; or are just going for roles that are way above your ability & experience it is unlikely that an agency will put you on the "risk" list.
As a headhunter myself, it get very frustrating when individuals do not invest the time to research the role & business but just assume that I have all the time in the world to consider them for roles that they have little chance of fulfilling by sending their details in.
What type of role are you looking for? Are you experienced and/or trained? Ask yourself how potential employers will view you when you meet them - is there anything you can improve, like having a shave, or getting your suit pressed and cleaned. Is your CV well-constrcted, or badly written?
