Who or what are Corgi who seem to regulate gas industry and according to Br.Gas keep changing the regulations.

The reason I ask is that every year when I get my annual service BG seem to find another reason for charging for further ventilation, modifications to my boiler etc. They threaten to stop the maintenance cover if you do not comply.I would like to check up on some of their claims if possible.

Its the consumers organisation for registered Gas installers.

They have too much power for public good these days

Although gas and spent gas (flue gases) in particular can be extremely dangerous

You can contact them and there is lots of useful info on their web site at http://www.corgi-gas-safety.com/.

The Council for Registered Gas Installers
CORGI is a trade body - it doesnt represent the custoemrs or the governemtn it represents plumbers involved in gas plumbing

it stands for Confederation of Registered Gas Installers (CORGI)

it has done some sterling work in setting standards and encouraging safety - however it is a trade body that acts in the interests of its members, which may not be the same as the public. In many ways its a bit like NIC/EIC its has encouraged legistaltion which favours its members possibly at the expense of the public.
they are the national gas safety watch dog....they say i have to have a ventilator in the floor if i use my fire, wouldn't mind but the house is ancient and full of ventilation from all sorts of places.
our central heating fitter was corgi registered and was rubbish.
they have a web site though so you can check up on the regulations
