Why do shop assistants stack coins on top of notes and receipts when they hand you back your change?
It's really much easier and quicker to put the coins in your hand first, then hand you the notes and receipts after.

Exactly its so annoying and then you have to fuss about trying to seperate it all and put it in the right section of your wallet and they get all arsey cos they want to deal with the next customer when its their fault in the first place arrrgggh!
to annoy you
I don't see how that's quicker - surely you count out the large change, i.e., note first, don't they?
also, I think the school of thought is that if the note(s) are below some coins, it's more difficult to drop them, or the wind to blow them away.
I don't know.
I don't really care to be honest.
so the notes don't fly away or fall on the floor
I've wondered just the same thing..!
Cause it's easier
They probably don't want to keep the cash drawer open for a long period of time, or can't be bothered waiting for you to faff around putting your money away.
That's really anal.
Because they like to annoy people, its the only fun they have. Shop assistant is an awful job, people being rude to you, smelly people, people with bad breath, drunks, kids screaming etc.
Its not a nice job and very undervalued. So they have a little laugh by being awkward when they can.
Good question, as it is a tad bit annoying BUT I mysteriously found that when I worked at a cinema and would pass back the change, I'd do the exact same thing.weird or what!
Because the notes make a convenient platform to hold the cash. You would not want your brass to spill over the counter would you?
But anyway, is this of world shattering importance? Why am I answering you anyway?
so is not only me who gets annoyed by that ... i guess is easier that way
Oh, I hate that!
I also hate it when they put all the change on top of the receipt, coz then your change goes everywhere when you pull the receipt out from under all the coins!
The weight of the coins keep the notes in place in case a draught of wind or something else shoul dislodge them.
cos the secret shop assistants society have bin observing you for several years and now that theyv discovered that this annoys you they will do it all the more!
