why is it in hull not all birthday cards get delivered?, my daughter has just had her birthday and two of the 5 cards sent through the post have gone missing? why, someone must have them and they where posted in hull with our correct postcode on, this also happens at xmas and is very regular, children get very hurt by this and more hurt when they think there dad has not bothered

Answers:
postie thieves em cos he thinks they contain money.
Sorry to be so cynical, but my dads Birthday and Xmas cards to me used to get "Lost in the Post" every year too.
Someone is probably telling porkies.
Same here, i reckon postie takes them. If my family sends a card they now put a message on the back something like posted on so and so date as per our telephone call as promised. It might sound lame but none of my mail has gone missing since i told my family to do this.
If you are truly sure that the items were posted then you neeed to report this to the Post Office,.very rarely there are dishonest postmen/women who either take the cards for what might be inside them, or who are just overwhelmed by the sheer volume of work, and hide the letters/cards instead of delivering them.

AWWW! thats really sad, have you tried contacting the post office, make a complaint.. My sister had a post card sent to her by her friend and it didnt come after ages. maybe you gotta wait a while. But contact you post office and explain your situation..
You need to get a form from the Post Office as they have a missing post warehouse in Belfast. Post can get misplaced or stolen by postal workers who are stick fingered as they will think there might be money in the card.

If the people have access to a computer get them to send a E-Card which will get there and in some cases are free.
I have experienced the same thing. My last situation was when I couldn't get to the bank so I sent my check to the bank (5 miles away). The post office was right across the street from the bank and they didn't deliver my check until I contacted the the post office postmaster, the bank, the main post office postmaster and the postal investigator (the police of the postal service, and yes she did wear a policeman's uniform) who took my complaint in person and made several calls and found it sitting at the post office (for no reason). The post office personnel "walked" my check across the street to the bank. And, another situation was where I sent several letters out to prospective family regarding genealogy and they all came back. Again I had the postal service investigate it. The only thing they could say to me, which sounded silly, was that the return address was the same print as the address and the computers were getting confused so returning it to the sender. So they told me to make the return address smaller, and to change the print on my mail so their equipment could read it automatically.

There have been other mistakes like at Christmastime when my mail was returned to sender, they told me they thought I hadn't paid for my postal box, but upon cchecking they saw that I had paid my postal box.result was that my family got panicked when they couldn't find me.

I've sent mail to Germany, it got stamped in Germany and returned to me "address unknown". Nothing was wrong with the address. So it seems like the problem is worldwide.

I know you can't send money thru the mail because the postal service says their equipment will stop it (occasionally money has gotten thru though, only once it didn't).

My last problem with the postal service was when I sent $50 and it got lost in the mail, the postal service did a "ho-hum", said they worked to find it but they never did. All they did was change postal people. Nothing solved.

I don't know where you are but a law for Canadians came in last year wherein if you don't have a return address on your mail then it "will not" reach it's destination (the law said). Here in the U.S. and as far as I know, the postal service "requests" that you put a return address on your mail. I haven't seen any law here yet, but I suspect that will be their next excuse.

Years ago my nephew got married and it was a RSVP thing. The RSVP was to go to the home of his wife-to-be in another state. I responded and said I'd send a gift. Here it is 20 years later and he's on his second marriage, and my sister still holds it against me that (she says) I never thought enough of him to respond. (Heck, I sent a gift, what else does she want?..gee). But I know how long people can hold a grudge (and it wasn't even caused by me).

My suggestion is to both send a card and "make the call" too if it's a special occasion.
