Best way of telling boss you're leaving?

I recently started a new job which i hate and am planning to leave as i have found a new one. Only problem is my boss is really nice and i don't know how to tell him! Any ideas?

Answers:
I wouldn't tell him until you have found an alternative job and think you have a good chance of getting it ..no need to cross the bridge until you come to it.
heres my notice as you only give me a low wage and no benefits ive decided to get another job bye bye
just be honest, its always the best way
I,ve enjoyed my experience, now I,m moving on, thanks for your help during my time here..
Just explain why
- struggling financially? new job pays more/ more hours
- closer to home, you are findoing the distance too much to travel
-better for your health- cleaning products etc irritating lungs/ skin?
- lie and say you are eaving the area
- new job has promotion opportunities or is essential to your future plans
Good luck, hope it works out
if all else fails just leave and write them a letter :O)
Its a shame you like him, I would suggest txting him, its seems the thing to do when you fire someone these days!
Be honest - he'll respect you for being honest and straught up with him.

Put it as nicely as you can but do not skirt around the subject for too long.
Ok, tell you boss these exact words.." I am tired of this f*cking job!.why don't just kiss my a*s and I am outa here!!"
Get it over with!!
I know! Have you seen the film 'Catwoman'?

Well she goes out of her job with a good ending LMAO!

She said something like this when the boss shouted at her:

I'm sorry for every second I wasted working for an UNtalented, UNethical, egomaniac like you!

LMAO that was hilarious!
You should tell him you're sorry but you've been offered your dream job and cannot possibly turn it down. Or a little white lie like "your aunt/uncle/dad needs you to work for her/his company as you're the only one she/he trusts to help you". Or, tell him you've only got 3 months to live and you don't want to spend it working (no not really), just my sense of humour, sorry!
Before I read your additional details I had thought of suggesting that you take a dump on his desk, I find it always gets attention, But if you like him tell him the truth "I have found a better job" if he is really nice he will say "Bon Chance mon amiee" (excuse my french)
yeah it's much harder when they're nice. I just quit today but as the company was crap all round I just phoned to say send me my p45 I'm not coming back. They were gobsmacked for once.
Just tell him that you're moving on and thank him for letting you have the opportunity to learn a few things and wish him all the best. There's no way out of it and you dont want to do what I did if he's nice.
Give him a formal letter of resignation saying you are leaving for personal reasons. If he wants to know what they reasons are you can just say that they are personal and you cannot discuss them. If he is as nice as you say, he will accept your word and resignation.
If he's a crap boss, One or Two fingers depending on your preference.
just sit down and explain to him that you found a job that you like and you would have to quit him. explain that it was the type work that you don't like but you like working for him, he was really nice boss.I'm sure he will understand. if you see you can work it out where you can give a 2 week notice.employers like that out of employees.
If u boss is a nice guy and if u are also a loyal and soft girl, u can say
" Boss,I think I am not 100 % satisfied with this job,Something is bothering me,,(if u want u can tell the exact reason.) I feel if there is a change in my job /work place I may feel comfortable.Actually I thought about it so many times..at last I have decided to switch to a new job, where i may find some change which i wanted.
Just be honest and tell him that you've found a job with better wages or circumstances. If he is really nice and understanding he will understand. Did the last on my last job (and I wasn't lying)
His reaction was that he would be the last one to stop me if I found a better job and to wish me good luck!!
Honesty is the best policy, say something like " thank you for giving me this opportunity but i am really not happy and to be fair to you i think it is better to leave before the situation gets any worse" it shows that you are not unappreciative but fair and honest, good luck in your new job
request a little time with your boss to have a quite chat. Now, the first thing you say is 'i have enjoyed working here, but i think the time has come for me to move onto future challenges. this is nothing personal. i have enjoyed my time here, but after working for a couple of months, I have relised that my goals do not match with this companies goals. he is my written letter of resignation.' (pass letter to boss) if you really like your boss, ask to see him outside of the work environment.
Hi, when i wanted to leave my job because i didnt like it i just wrote a letter explaining why, and never went back, thats how you get out of not speaking to the managers. The only other way is just to take a deep breath and just tell him, you have found a job with better prospects and pay and you want to leave. If he trys to give you a wage rise or gets you to stay, then just say you have made your decision and you would like to leave.
You have to tell him/her that you have found a new job that suits your needs and that it is something you have to do for your own well being, a good boss would want the best for you what ever you decide. Good luck in your new job.
as he is nice try and explain that you need a job that pays more.
SHOUT IT LOUD AND PROUD
Every employee is re-placeable, just spit it out and tell him, he will soon find someone to take your place.
write a letter saiying that you have had a better offer and explaining why you dont like the current position. Good luck with the new one
write a letter - its more professional
Goodbye - see you in 20 years or so.

Or tell him you've been offered another job that is closer to home.
