Both fields of medicine are interesting but I would take orthopeadic surgery over plastics any day - the pay is much better and the job is more mechanical, making it somewhat more interesting.
Competition for orthopeadics is very fierce though. You should live in California, it is one the few states that have put a cap on the malpractice insurance premiums, making it a very attractive area for surgeons who don't want to be $100,000 a year for insurance.
