How can i promote my new ironing business?
Answers:
Put out flyers. That is how my husband and I got most of our customers at first. Put them out in higher priced neighborhoods, they tend to be more willing to pay people to do what they personally don't want to spend their time doing. You can either put them out yourselves or pay someone to put them out for you. There are actually businesses who specialize in flyer advertising aand distributing. We decided to do it ourselves because you save alot of money and get one heck of a work out! Just make sure to wear really comfy shoes! (I learned this the hard way!) Lol!!
We also advertised on the Verizon superpages and Yahoo. You can pay per click or you can have a free listing. The only drawback of the free listing is that it will not show at the top of the list when people do a search for your business. You should at least post a free ad on both sites. You don't have anything to lose, and since there shouldn't be alot of business like yours, you will probably get some responses. I would also take out an ad in a cheap paper. I don't know where you are located, but around here there are a few sales papers that don't charge too much to place an ad. For example, we have the Greensheet and Thrifty Nickel. The larger ones, like The Chicago Times, or Dallas Morning News, are too expensive for my taste.
Also, post some flyers at your local grocery store bulletin boards, as well as laundry mats. It is very important to call around for the best printing prices. We found a place that only charges 6 cents per sheet on colored papert, with two ads per page. Alot of places have absolutely ridiculous rates, but if you can find a smaller printing company, you might get lucky. Ask if they have any discounts on paper that is either discontinued or leftover paper they have in stock but are no longer going to offer. That is what we did. Your selection will probably be limited, but well worth the savings! If you have more than one ad per sheet, see if the place charges extra to have the sheets cut into individual flyers. We pay an additional 5 bucks per order, but it saves a ton of time. I sure wish you alot of luck!!!
business cards, flyers (put on cars, leave on store bulletin boards), car magnet with name & number, list in phone book, internet,
Start by advertising in the local press
For something that is typically going to work on a local basis I'd advise printing up some flyers and distributing them door to door. This would also probably work out as the cheapest option, whilst gaining you maximum publicity in your area.
PS there's loads of ironing companies already out there.
Advertise locally in shop windows and in the local press. Offer friends the service too and let word of mouth get some business for you also. Good luck with the business.
By making sure you, your family and ffriends always have nicely pressed clothes and then when asked how you get everything so nice go in for the kill!
I suggest posting some advertisements in the local grocery store.. with your phone number on them. This is free, and easy. Plus there are tons of grocery stores with free message boards.
You should really think about offering to launder the shirts too. because people will not want to have to wash them before bringing them to you.
Use a picture, ideally of something eye catching -- like you smiling at an ironing board. or a mint pressed shirt. Pictures Will catch the eye, where words will not.
You ask a fair question "why not let Rapid ironing services take away the burden..."
the answer is simply that not everyone has the choice to pay for their housework to be done for them - sure some of us would love to - but there are many necessary expenses, and so I think my ironing is here to stay!
As to advertising - try dropping leaflets through doors in a fairly wealthy area where folks may be more inclined to sit on their lawn in the sun rather than slaving over a hot ironing board!
All the best in your new business
on tv
Ironining buissiness.. thats what Maids are for but try local news papers
print yourself some business cards and leave a few in random places. On the bus seat, foyers, supermarket noticeboards etc
You can do this by opening branches with trained staff.
You must be capable of managing all the branches by frequent visits and guidance to staff.
advertise in the PRESS
