I'm an electrician and pretty much the best advertising is word of mouth. you cant pay for better advertising so just be good at what yo do and clear up after you. offer discounts and use a company called vistaprint (www.vistaprint.co.uk) to get some great quality business cards for a very low price. I use them all the time and it is very cost effective. Give them out to everyone! Good luck fella!
You need to get your name and what you do "out there." Post notices in every place where they're allowed. Hand out business cards to everyone you meet. Pester your friends and relatives to mention your business every chance they get. If you can afford it, advertise.
If people don't know you exist, they're not going to think of you when they need the services you can provide.
