I am a female aged 22 , I am looking to share an apartment in central London?
Answers:
The best way to find a flat or house to share in London is to use one of the following methods:
1. Loot. Its a paper thats publised weekly that has a load of flat share and property rentals listed. It used to be the absoulte bible for flat hunters in London but has been a bit superceeded by some of the websites around.
2. Capital Flatshare. Listings published on a Saturday in the Guide section of the Guardian newspaper (its the little A5 insert they shrink wrap). This is also published by Capital radio on a Thursday I think. You can get it from the Capital Radio building on Leicester Square
3. Craigslist. Website that offers listings etc for flats.
http://london.craigslist.org/
4. Gumtree. Same thing but this has a focus for the Aussie, South African, Kiwi community.
5. Search the web for other websites.
You can walk into an estate agents and look but be warned they are normally expensive and inefficient and some letting agents are very unscrupulous and try and charge you a fee for viewing their list. If they try that, walk out! Its actually illegal and they are going to try and screw you over!
Be flexible about what part of London you live in. You may say "central London" but that is a really big area and generally the further out you go the cheaper it becomes. London works on "zones" that are concentric circles heading out from the centre. Travel becomes more expensive as yoyu go out but property can become cheaper. Anywhere near a tube station goes up in price but places without a tube often have really good bus links or mainline train station.
