if it is less than 500 I think you can go to the place where you bought the ticket. Or there should be a local lottery office where you can go. Is there an 800 number on the back of your ticket?
what kind of lottery? if you just got an email saying you won some weird lottery you never entered, it's just a scam!

Did you buy a ticket to a lottery? If so, take it to whoever sold the ticket to you. If you have not purchased a ticket to a lottery and someone contacts you (from sub saharan africa for instance) saying 'you've won, just send 20 quid to process your winnings' then you've been targeted by a con artist and you really haven't won anything at all. There is no such thing as a free lunch- most especially a free lunch with a small handling charge.
