I have received my first payment at my new job at Showcase Cinemas which iss £71.15p.And I was paid £5.50 per
hour.I worked 16 hours, and it was my first four shifts.I am not too good at maths but I am sure I was underpaid.Should I complain?Idont wnat to be wrong and lose my job because I have a lot of payments to make right now,what is the best course of action for me to take?

There are a number of standard deductions from your paycheck. Your net pay will never equal your gross pay. If you have any questions, ask your boss/manager/HR department - I'm sure they'll be happy to explain it to you.
It sounds like you may have been underpaid, but you may have forgotten to take into account meal breaks, tax, national insurance etc.
You should check though - it never does any harm to make an enquiry. No one was ever sacked for double checking their wages, that would be ridiculous.
Are you on an emergency tax code?
As your boss to explain your pay slip to you. It should give details of all deductions from your salary.
£5.50 X 16 = £88.00 less any deductions (paye tax & NI deductions)

i think you should complain as i found my self in the same situation once and i was paid and compensated as well
I think you were over paid and should give some back
look at your pay statement should state your tax deductions and national insurance contributions
look at your tax
have you received a payslip? If not, ask for it and it will show you what they have done. The chances are you have paid tax and u should be able to claim this back.
