hi .i am an international student and i want ot open a current account from which i can apply for a credit card.but none of the bank is agree.what should i do?i came to england 1 time about 5 months ago.

Answers:
banks dont usually give credit cards to people without a good credit rating and you usually have to have been a customer for at least a year and then you will need to be getting an income so they know you can pay it back. try some other independent credit card companies
Have you got a cheque account already? I opened a cheque account with Lloyds when I came to UK about 5 years ago. That was the only one that I could open as an international student. (Lloyds wasn't the only bank I could go for, but it had some deal with my college and it was easier.) The bank upgraded my account to platinum current account recently, but it took 5 years. But I used to get leaflets telling how i could apply for credit cards with my bank statements, so maybe I could apply for it with cheque account if i wanted?
They can upgrade your account after some time if you have been a good customer, but that might be the only way. If you want a credit card, then maybe you can talk to a card company, or apply for the one you can use abroad in your country.
If you haven't opened a bank account at all in UK, then talk to your school about it. They should be able to write you a letter to help you to open a bank account, if you are going to stay in UK for 1 year at least (I think it's 1 year, but I don't remember well. Ask your school and banks.)
Go to the international student affairs office and ask them for the form that states you are attending their college and they recognise you. Banks in the UK need you to bring them a referral. I don't understand it, I just go with it.
