00610423xxxxxx given to me as my sisters mobile phone number in Sydney Australia-do codes look ok ..John D

Answers:
Assuming you are in UK, 00 is international prefix
61 is australia
I dont think u need the next "0"
try 001 61 and then the number. 001 is to get out of the US and the 61 is Australias number then there is the actual phone number after that.
00 is the usual international access code and 61 is the country code for Australia. However, I am surprised at the next 0: this is usually the prefix to switch a call up into the national network, and incoming international calls are usually there already. For example, UK national number 01234 567890 would be 00 44 234 567890.
you do not need a code for a mobile phone, if issued in the UK
providing 'roving ' mobile has been obtained. if it an Australian
mobile, you need the country code (i.e. england is 0044 )
providing the mobile phone service provider is available
in th Austrailan area you want. use the landline babes !!
Drop the single 0, unless you just call & find out?My network would only charge 15p so surely it`s worth a call?
0061 is the international code for Australia. Just dial as given and you should be ok. I call New Zealand and the code is 0064.
