Answers:
In most tropical fish, the pretty one is the mail, the plain one is the femail
look on the underside. If there is a little flap, it's a female, if there's a hole, a male, if none, it's too young. try again in a year
i dont know
The one with the pouty lips is the female.
um, it really depends on the species of fish, but usually, yes, the paler ones are female.
Among most breed of fish, the fe-males are really dull in colour, the males are generally the more colourful ones.
It would help to know what type of breed the fish are as this isn't always the case.
Answer genereally realtes to most types of tropical fish not cold water or marine fish.
With cold water fish, the fe-males generally have what looks like a small thin fin trailing behind them when the swim.
There's no point in waiting a year, fish can be easily upset and when they become stressed can just die on you. If in doubt and you want to breed, get a selection, but beware they will eat their young.
Hope this helps.
The real question is What type of fish do you have?

With some species it's very easy (for example male saulosi are black with blue stripes and female saulosi are solid yellow); others are hard to determine (many algae eaters look identical regardless of gender).
male fish tend to be larger, more colourful and more agressive.
but females are the opposite
you havent sed what kind of fish
if there cold water or pond fish then you cant tell but if there tropical or SOME tropical you can tell with look it up on google
