I am thinking about getting 3 hens but i am unsure on what and when to feed them?
Answers:
depends on the age. If they are over 18 weeks old you need to feed them layers pellets. You buy a feeder and fill it up and let them help themselves. Just fill as and when required. You also need to provide clean fresh water for them at all times. They need a dry secure house safe from foxes and rats and likewise a secure spacious run area.
Do not assume they need no effort at all. They need worming every 6 months, delousing regularly, you also need to keep the house and run clean and vermin free and in summer check daily for redmites which can kill them within 48 hours.
I recommend a book called 'staring with chickens' by Katie Thear.
It's a book I keep on hand here and give to customers who are inexperienced. If they tell me they aren't interested in the book or that chickens don't really matter much, I tell them to leave and refuse to sell to them.

Check out some books from the library or go buy some.
You feed them on chicken feed and corn that you can buy in pet or garden centres. They also love apples, lettuce, cabbage, grapes and raisins. Feed them the dry food in the am with plenty of water, and top up with other food as above during the day depending on when you're home. You can look forward to wonderful fresh eggs, and interesting pets. Good luck with it.
you can buy chicken food at any livestock/farm supply store.. even some pet supply stores will sell it.. (but the livestock supply place will be cheaper) they can eat vegetable and fruit waste too
Fruit and vegetable scraps and chicken pellets.
Chicken feed is a good guess. But also check the bylaws in your area. Most cities do not allow the keeping of livestock withing city limits. If you are in the country it is not a problem.
well they would be fedd one a day in the morning. they eat corn that you can buy at most super markets and if you want good helthy eggs provide a laying mesh for them to that is also available at most super markets. also try a ware house that specializes in animal food.
Actually, you don't have to buy something like chicken food. My mon fed lots of hens when I was a little child. And I get a lot of fun from playing with them. Just feed them some rice or corn or other grain, and one important thing is that they need some sands to help them digest, so you'd better have a little natural play ground for them. Natural means there may be some natural dirt, sand and other little insects. chicken like play with insects and they enjoy the fun from it. They also need some water.
Don't feed them too much each time..less food very time and several time each day.
I have a whole flock of pet chickens and I have roosters, hens and chicks and we feed them laying mash, and cracked corn. You can feed them in a chicken feeder and you also water them in a chicken waterer. You can get all the supplies( feeder, waterer, and feed) at a farm supply store.
give them crushed clam shells and crushed corn, sun flower seeds.
