My dog came in last night with a dead cat in it's mouth..?

the cat is a ginger To mand it belongs to a neighbour a few doors up, not sure what to do really..

Answers:
if your dog killed the cat, which you will be able to see from any puncture wounds you could be in for a trip to the magistrates to defend your dog, hopefully they will request that your dog is muzzled and give you a fine, otherwise just claim the cat was hit by a car and your dog picked it up
Tell them!
They have the right to know don't they?
I know i would if it was my cat.
uuuuuh.bury it.

My 2 belgian sheperd dogs bring me once a half cat.one with the first half. The second dog with the rest of the cat.I burried it in the backyard.
You need to tell them - but you don't have to say that your dog killed it (if he did). Say you found it in the road.
get the cat and put it at the side of the road so the owner will think it has been hit by a car and you wont get any blame
Cool! Stuff it and keep it as a trophy.
Don't tell the truth otherwise your dog could get put down!

Just tell them you found their cat and you're very VERY sorry to see it.
Get one of those toys that has those noise boxes in it (Preferably a cat noise one). Then shove it inside the cat.
Every now and again take the cat out into the garden and swivel it from side to side so it makes the meeow sound. That'll convince them it's still alive.
he might not have killed it ,infact unless he is a breed like a hunting dog he mightve .
just tell the neighbour you have found its cat in your garden and it was dead put it in a bag and let neighbour collect it.
You should tell your neighbor, they are probably going to miss him and put out all these missing posters for nothing--- your dog probably just found him dead anyways, a cat can beat up a dog so easily, so I don't think your dog's the culprit.
Call them and threaten to sue them because their cat tried to choke you dog, let them know it got lodged in her throat.

Sounds like your at fault for letting your dog roam if you don't have a fenced in yard. Now if kitty was in your yard, then they are at fault for not keeping him safe themselves. Either way what is done is done.
dump it in the trash and tell them you havent seen there cat or they would probly sue you in todays world
Because your dog carried does not mean your dog killed it, dogs can be buggers for picking dead stuff up. It might have been kiled on the road.
Well, you shall pay for the funeral.
go tell the neighbour and offer compensation..it's the morale thing to do.also, keep and eye on your dog..once they get a taste for blood..they'll go after anything.
You have to tell them, how would you like it if your dog went missing and something had eaten it? You would want to know where your pet is and what has happened. The owners will be worried about their cat , they need to know.
put it in the middle of the road, like some one hit it right in front of his house. people would say thats the wrong thing to do but i think its better than the guy calling animal control and maybe taking your dog away. (im not saying that thats going to happen)
Make some Chinese food
Show the cat to the neighbor, say that it looked like it was attacked by a dog, and you found it. Say you're sorry to see that their cat died, but by any means don't say that it was your dog that did it.
CAT STEW, SHARE A BUD LIGHT WITH YOUR DOG & PLAN FOR THE NEXT WEEK END.....

URBAN COWBOY
Get rid of the dead cat at the rubbish dump or something, not in your house or surrounding area. Then stay quiet. The neighbour will be upset and probably blame you for letting your dog out, so best to keep schtum. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES CONFESS AND LET THEM KNOW!!

Can you send the dog over here, cos the cats near me are a complete nightmare? Does he do pigeons as well?
Good job, cats are vermin, well done boy!!
you seriouslly need to tell them..dont worry about them trying to have your dog put down as its simply there nature to do that.
how would you feel if your dog was knocked down and the driver didnt tell you ? ? ?
Your dog brought you a present....don't tell your neighbor unless you want to lose a friend....and have your dog poisoned.

This is so says the "O" Wise One..
no ones fault just nature in practice, least your dog likes you to bring you a present. Your dog might not have killed the cat but found it dead already, just throw it in the bin n 4get all about it, as u don't know for 100% your dog is to blame.
Congratz to your dog !
It would be really sad not to tell the neighbors. They loved their cat. While your dog should have not been running free, they took a risk of something like that happening when they let their cat out. Suck it up, and tell them.
happened to us before. did not know whos cat it was, until somone put a note in the neighbourhood's post boxes looking for the cat.

i am sure that after the initial shock the owner's will be understanding of how bad you feel and that at least you let them know. if your dog was in your yard, there is not anything you could have done to prevent it.
you had better tell your neighbour..
tricky.they could sue you for the loss of their cat.tell them what happened and settle a friendly arrangement.
would your dog like my cats, they bring birds, mice and frogs and leave them on my bed!
