My cat keeps spraying / weeing? Any tips for stopping this and getting rid of the smell?
My male cat is now 6 months old, not yet been neutered but is having his op soon.
He keeps spraying behind out TV and I'm not really sure how to stop him and how to get rid of the smell.

the op will help! You must get rid of the smell (products in pet shop for this as normal cleaners and bleaches will not get rid of the scent to the cat and he will repeat the behaviour) I have heard that orange scent deters them but I'm sure if you clean the area properly and have the op he will be fine. If continues see the vet or seek guidance in pet shop (as is a very common problem). My cats stopped with just cleaning the area and a strong "no!" when they went in that place.
get him done or else get rid of the cat
well - PlanetUrine.com (not kidding) has this great enzime stuff. that rids you of the bacteria and the smell.
HOWEVER. I don't know what CAVE you live in. but *I* won't have an animal that P-I-S-S-E-S in my house! That animal is OUT OF HERE.
Problem solved.
yup gotta get him snipped as much as i hate to say it.. i'm just happy i don't spray
Cut him in half and keep the front end!
rub his nose in it, its not pleasant but after the second time he will learn!

the only way i got my cat to stop was the operation
i had to clean everything with bleach and at times i would still smell it so i would have to clean everything with bleach again
get rid of him. Cats have ruined my grass with their acid piss! death to them all!
you have to get him spaded and neutered he is doing that to attract a mate and to mark his terroroy
Getting him neutered should help.
He is probably not urinating per se, he is more likely marking his territory. But make sure his cat box is cleaned every day anyway.
He won't stop til he gets his op. I know that if fill a 2 litre coke bottle with water and take the label off it keeps unwanted cats of lawns - so maybe try put a bottle behind the telly etc.
put it outside until you can get him nutered spaying is for females.
shoot him
He should stop when you get him neutered. Until then, get a spray bottle (like a plant mister) or a water-pistol and squirt him as soon as he goes near the TV.
Or you could just keep the dirty little b@stard outside?!
try spaying anything with orange in it in that area they don't like the smell or put something in that corner to stop him using it once they have used place for a loo its hard to stop them from doing it again. clean area with ammonia and strong disinfected. the spraying is his way of marking his territory this should stop once he has been neutered.
a cheep way to stop him spraying is to put lemon juice over the area he was weeeded (is that the right word ?) then when he gose bak there rub his nose in the leon juce the cat will never go back there again
get him the snip pdq or your cat is gonna have one sore nose
hopefully the problem will stop after you have had him neutered.but unfortunately the smell of cat's pee is immpossible to get rid of.you will have to rip up the floor covering or if it has permeated the floor boards, replace them i'm afraid.
get your cat in a bath
kick it in the butt haha
I'm afraid the only way to get him to stop his to give him the op, I had my kitten done a month ago and he is fine. You could maybe get one of those cat friendly sprays that people put in the garden to ward them off or block it off until the op. Good luck!
everytime he does it, tie a firecracker on his tail and light it. It worked for my little p****.
There is a spray you can buy at the pet store to help him stop but the best way to stop it is to get the cat fixed. To get rid of the smell will be tough try cleaning the carpet if it is wood it will be harder. Make sure you wash it over and over again. Good Luck!
Get rid of the cat!!! Seriously, get it neutered asap, it is marking terriority..
Wash the area with bleach and get some anti cat spray, it will deter the cat from going there.
you can't..he'll stop post-op with any luck
you will have to get him neutered but their is a stuff at wal-mart called urine be gone and it worked to get the smell out of my carpets when i was training my puppy. it was cheaper than the stuff they sell at the pet stores and it worked. good luck
Get him neutered.
Hope he's getting neutered *very* soon - eliminate the space he is using (put tv right against wall or cover area with something he can't move). After he's neutered, clean the carpets and use pet stain remover.
I stopped my cat by giving it away. My cat caused 2700 pounds worth of spray damage before I gave up. Silks and heavy curtains were his toilet. No amount of cleaning could end the stink. Purchase a done cat or a female done cat, next time. Giant Main Coon's are best and Siamiese talk to you beasts. I love cats, but not their stink in the house. Be hard, beat the bar-stead with a cane, that will stop him, but it takes more lessons than you haVE SWIPES.
You've left it a tad too late.
I'm glad you're getting him neutered. But the spot where he sprays is indelibly marked. He'll always smell it even when you can't. Especially if it's in the carpet.
You'll have to replace it and repaint the wall.
There will be some products at the vets - check them out when you go, or ask the nurse.
clean the area with bleach, that takes away the smell, hurry and get him fixed . while he is there clean the area heavely with bleach to take all the old amell away so that he wont go back to that area..good luck
