Do fish sleep and if they do, do they close their eyes?

Answers:
No, they dont. I even asked my dad this when I was 5 years old when I first got my fish.
Sounds like your after a fishy answer!
idk. Sorry im not a fish expert
Can I ask you how many fish you've seen with eyelids?
Does this answer your question?
Fish do sleep, and they sleep with their eyes open. They just float around in the water, they dont lie down like people do.
They do sleep - but they don't have eyelids, so they can't close them. They just sit still for a while.
fish do rest, but they are physically incapable of closing their eyes. you will probably never be aware when your fish is snoozing.
only when they are tired
no only joking fish don't have eye lids to close there eyes
Most all fish spend time in an energy-saving state that can be called
"rest", and we might even call their behavior "sleep", though it is probably
different than "sleep" in most land
animals. Many fish, like Bass and perch, rest on or under logs at
night. Coral reef fish active in the day, hide and rest in crevices
and cracks in the reef to avoid being eaten at night.
The resting behavior of fish is very different from their behavior the
rest of the day. Many minnows, for example, which are very active in
schools during the day, scatter and remain motionless in shallow
water at night. Many fish "rest" or "sleep" during the day and are
active at night instead, but almost all fish sleep.
There are some animals that never stop swimming, like many species of
shark, however, they HAVE to keep moving to push water through their mouths
in order to breathe, and they may still sleep while moving,
we just don't know yet.
Yes, they do and no they don't close their eyes, they just go on park mode.
Dunno? Try kissing one!
Fish do not technically sleep, they just rest. Many fish may just sit on the bottom, hide in the dark, rest in plants, but some just stay still. Most fish do not have eyelids, and even if they do they never close them. Even sharks do not close their eyes as if they stopped swimming they would sink to the seabed and die.
Fish do sleep. They only sleep 3 seconds at a time. No they don't close their eyes they have a clear lens that goes over their eyes that protects them. Here is a web site you can look at just type in what kind of fish you want to learn about and it will tell you want you want to know. http://www.wikipedia.org/
My fish expert boyfriend says "Yes they do sleep, no they don't close their eyes, because they don't have eyelids" Well I just learned something new :)
Fish do not have eyelids therefore do not close their eyes.
Some saltwater fish sleep like humans and deep sea divers have often handled them and taken them out of water without them waking up.
Fish like loaches often like to sleep at the bottom on the gravel on their sides to sleep, some fish sleep but are semi consious so even a little ripple in the water will wake them up.
Hope that answered your question!
yes they do sleep but they do not close there eyes they lay on the bottom of the tank and rest
yes fish sleep but the cant close there eyes no lids!!!
Yes they do. but they can't have thier eyes closed(no eye lids).when they do sleep they just sit still in the tank and don't move.
no fish do not sleep and they have no eyelids so they can't close their eyes either
Fish don"t sleep they go in to a trance like state they also have no eyelids
They rest. They don't have eye lids.
no but they can float and they have transparent eyelids
they do sleep thats why usually when its dark they dont move much. they have eyelids which the close and blink but they are seethrough so it doesnt look like they do.
Most species of fish can't close their eyes as they have no eyelids, but they do sleep.
Sometimes they'll hover very still in the tank or near the bottom and not move, but still be breathing. They're asleep or resting when they do that.
fish do sleep but no they dont close there eyes
ahhhhhhhh.....maybe you should ask if they have eye lids first?
to be able to close their eyes
yes they do sleep and still swim but if you find one a sleep on it's side then it's dead
