My hamster can only open one eye.?

his other one is stuck together by what looks like that crusty stuff we get around our eyes in the morning. i was going to gently bathe it with a cotton bud but i,m not sure. have anyone out there had a similar experience? what did you find worked?

I know all about that ok my guinea pigs get that all the time but my hamster doesn't. OK what you do is don't PANIC all you need to do is take a soft wash cloth and wipe the eye then try to open it very gently. has it had this since you got him? oh and if it gets worse you should take it to the vet pronto oh and never give your hamster a bath it could kill the poor thing
prehaps he is half asleep! sorry :)
Must be a POTC hamster.

I would have him checked out at the vets just to make sure.
I think he's flirting with you

Call your vet.
just take a washcloth with some water on it and very, very, gently wipe off the eye. if it gets worse then take him to a vet
my hampster has gotten that way a couple of times. i think it comes from getting dust off of the shavings in his eye.i have always left it alone, and after a couple of days he was fine.
hmm.poor hamster. 1st think, has this been going on for a long time? if t hasn't, it's probably some sickness or disease. vet, right away! if it's been there, dunno. vet right away!

haha. but it's not a joke.
Is he a Pirate? Get him an eye patch and a parrot.
i think you should try what you said.did he sleep with his contact lenses in though when he went out on the pull last night?
yeah my hamster did that. you want to get that checked out. like now
yes i have. how old is she? it can be an infection which need s a vet or it can be age. take a wash cloth, wet with warm water and wipe front to back in a smooth motion until it opens. gently. if u were more experienced and had a gentle hamster u could use a qtip but u can poke him if not careful. try the washcloth first and repost if it didnt work. if it works but comes back later-go to the vet.
It's never happened to me, but I'd probably get a warm washcloth and wipe his eye. Be careful though. Oh and DON'T use soap either! Soap will make the problems worse!
I find that taking my pets to the vet helps every time. The poor thing might be in pain - stop wasting time & go to the vet now.
I worked as a vet technician for five years. My older hampster had the same problem, I was told it was an infection, you should take it to the vet as soon as you can. Wiping it with a moist cloth will only help for a short while.
