Cat flap in a UPVC door?
Is it possible to fit a cat flap in a UPVC door yourself or does it need to be done professionally? If I can do it myself anyone know a good and easy to fit brand to use?

This is something you can do yourself, but not recommended. Most companies don't like fitting them, I know this because I've just had new doors fitted and I asked about these dog doors.
Are you doors still under guarantee? If so contact the company that fitted them, it will cost but at least you'll have a guarantee for the fitting. Nothing worse than them leaking. Some doors have locks on them, that work with a collar which you put on your cat/dog. That way only a cat/dog wearing the collar can get in. Better that than everybody's cat coming in your house.

yes you can i used to work for a upvc firm go buy a cat flap and cut a hole in the door so the middle bit fits it there is a big edge so dont matter if it straght cut or a little big the cat flap will cover it
you can do it yourself. I have one. Any make will do. Use the template to cut the hole through the panel and just fit it. I always use a 4 way locking cat flap. It can be locked so it is all open (cats come in and go out) all closed, in only or out only. At niight when I want my cats to stay in and be safe, I turn the lock so that they can come in, but not go back out again. The make is staywell and I got it from Argos for around a tenner.
You can actually use a hacksaw blade or bredknife to cut the hole in the panel of the door.
I'm in the middle of trying to buy a house. One of the ones I went to look at had a cat flap in every single door in the house (yes, even the toilet and bathroom). It made me wonder who on earth lived there, cats or humans! But it answers your question. Yes, you can put a cat flap in the UPVC door. They'd sawn a chunk out of a panel and fitted the cat flap in exactly the same way you would do in a wooden door.
I like the idea of using a stiletto heel to get the hole started though. Get rid of all your frustrations at the same time!
dont do it urself. we got fitters in to do ours, they broke the panel in the door and the catflap,nightmare. took weeks to get right, its not brilliant now.
