My 1 yr old mixed breed pit bull-- beagle is losing hair, is this normal?
I have him since he was only 2 wks old, the mother dog died so i have to take care of him like a baby, i love him so much that to see his hair shading worries me, couple of months ago he has rashes due to allergy in certain foods, he has his regular vet check ups & even vitamins, he has no fleas or something, he doesn`t scracth as well only losing hair. Is this normal?

On the other hand dogs sometimes loose hair when their glands (near the bum) are full and these have to be sorted out by the vet.

its not normal but its quite common.you could get him some skin meds from the vet. also, he could be suffering from stress, depression, or seperation anxiety. just make sure you give him lots of attention!

It may happen because of lack of mother's milk.The adequate nutrients in the pup's body is missing,find a lactating mother.She may belong to any breed,just make sure she is healthy and is not suffering from any skin disease.
my saint bernard had the same problem first thought it was due to her dog food and fleas but turn out it was a skin rash and she had to take steriods which helped she has a pretty coat again rather than bald spots .

The best thing is to ask your vet's advice.
vet ripped me off of £75 one visit. Gave me aludex for one wash. never changed anything. met a man on holiday, said dog was surrering from hot blood, too much protien in her diet. advised me to get rock sulpher. put a small peice in her drinking water change every 3 days. give her garlic tablet every day, you can get it in pet shop for £1.19 20 tablets. she has dried food not bakers thats crap. low protien. then give her tona fish on oil 2 times a week. my dog has all her hair back in 8 days, she was very bald, on her chest and legs and feet. give it a go, me and my dog very happy. vets are robbers in some cases. good luck
