Answers:
what bred of dog are you getting, look into it's face and the first name that comes to you. The bred of dog depends in some cases, for example, if you get a beautiful pedigree dog like a Red Setter or another elegant dog, you can't call it Spot. It would suit the beautifulness of the breed. The name needs to fit the dogs appearance and remember you'll be calling the puppy a lot, so a happy name that roles off the tongue. I usually find a name ending in "y" works well as the dog get's excited.
maybe you could think of some famous singers or actors that you like. thats what we do
ruud is a great name for a boy
or george
When I got my dog, I went onto the web and keyed in "male chi names" and I got a whole list of names that people have names their chi. I chose another name because of something I said one time and something he did. Good luck

I have always given my dogs human names (currently the dog is heidi and the cat is emilie), but i also like the names of any greek god or goddesses---Zues for a boy, Hera for a girl or Artemis. Aphrodite is also a good name for a girl.
Call it after your favourite footballer. I called my cat (female) ERIC after the MUFC player Eric CATona, or was it Cantona. Got a few smiles at the vet, Eric the female cat was quite a celebrity.
How about Spike?
Dixie is a nice name for a girl! That's what I named my puppy!
Maybe try googling your question. You will probably find loads of sites that tell you some great names and their meanings. Do you already know which dog and what he looks like? I would say not to choose a name until you have the dog, or you will probably regret your descision. By the way, I like the name conker!
Fang - cute for a little dog - funny for a big dog. Or Spike. Both fab names!

It depends on the breed of dog. You wouldn't get a Rottweiler and call it flamin' conker would you ?.
Similarly, if you got a yorkshire terrier you wouldn't call it Tyson or something ridiculous.
loads. I am too! What sort of dog is it? I am an expert on small spaniel names, I can tell you - I have a list! But they are for a red coloured dog (or golden colour) mainly! My favourites are:

Male:
Jasper, - keeper of treasure
Shelby, - from a house near cliffs
Indy (Indianna) - adventerous
Adoni - abpriginal for Sunset
Blaze
Casey - watchful, quiet
Flynn - son of red-haired
Irwyn - Sea Friend
Rosso - Italian for red

Female:
Blaze
Bella
Caitlin
Chloe
Cassie
Dinah
Cindy
Abbie
Amber
Trixie
Gypsie
Ruby
Sapphire - or Saffy
Kaiser, Cujo, are my best ones
My black staffy-labrador cross is called Tu-pac.

My friends have dogs as follows
a staffy called Blade
a choc labrador called Coco
a mix-breed called Sammy
a Yorkshire Terrier called Barney
a Jack-Russell called Prince
a rotteweiler called Harley (female by the way)

Really it depends on the type of dog you are looking at and if you want a boy or girl.

But I think it all really depends on the inidividual dog. Their face and character will give you all you need to deciding the name.

HOWEVER - THINK CAREFULLY ABOUT IT!!!!

Just remember some names are ok when your around the house with your new cute pet - but REMEMBER there will come a day when your stood in the middle of a busy park and that's when it hits you!!

FLUFFY-WUFFY was not the best name you could think of!!!!
i like the name Benson.
bobby, lily, pepsi,
conker is nice.
When we got our puppy - we knew we were getting a giant schnauzer which is a german breed - and I just knew he had to be called BORRIS - our giant schnauzer girl is called TAZ.

I had a yorkie called PIP and FLUFF, we had a Rottweiller called ROCKY. Nigel had a dog called LADY when he was little - and there was PEPPER, B-J (I think kennel name was BO-Jangles)

If it is pedigree you could use part of the kennel name.. although Borris would be pepper and although his colouring is Salt and Pepper - Borris is definately the right name for this german monster of a dog!

You must see the dog - or know the breed before picking a name - it is like naming a baby! You might love the name David - but when you see him he may scream out "George" you know what I mean!

Let us in on the breed and we might help.
Siafu is a great name for a dog (boy or girl).
