Male Or Female Rat?

Heya Im nearly 16 And Have Decided On Getting A Rat. Iv'e Never Had one before So What Would Be Better? A Male Rat Or A Female Rat?

Answers:
I've always found that females are more territorial than boys. If you want a lively rat that is very energetic and wont sit still for long then get girls. If you want a rat that you can have on your lap or shoulder and loves to sit still then get boys. Whichever you decide to get, I strongly recommend getting at least two. Rats are very social creatures and need company of their own kind. We cant be with them 24/7. Keeping two is no more hard work than one. Its a myth that one rat will bond better than two. I recently got four little boys and they have bonded better and quicker than any of my other 20+ rats that I got in pairs. Plus if there are a couple of them, they gain confidence from each other, they dont want to be left out.
Hey there. I am a rat lover and may I say: they make great pets. But since this is your first time owning a rat, you may want to go with a female. You see, as male rats grow older and start to become more dominant, they sometimes become a bit violent and territorial. Rats are great and I'd like to suggest to you this website for tips on taking care of them. It will give you all the information you need, including name suggestions and a list of healthy foods and treats, as well as what sort of living situations you should provide for your pet rat. Here you go. GOOD LUCK!

If you want a chilled out pet that sits and lets you tickle it then you should get a male. If you want something a little bit more independent, whizzin back n forth, a female.
