Can the colour of a Yellow Rat Snake's eyes change as it gets older?

They used to be light grey, and now look reddish. I've seen pictures of adult Yellow Rat Snakes with the reddish eyes, but I can find nothing to say whether they change from grey to red as they get older.

Answers:
In some ratsnakes the eye color will change with age especially if the Yellow Ratsnake is in its southern most form, the Everglades Ratsnake.
Ratsnakes are one of the few snakes that actually give an overall change in pattern and colors as they grow larger and become older. Everglades Ratsnakes (South Florida Yellow Ratsnakes) become a brighter orange with age and often have less of a striped pattern down the back. They also have a trademark solid brilliant red tongue.
