What can be done about pit bull fighting?
Someone here (y answers) asked how we like their website. I clicked on it and it is obvious to me that this person breeds pits for fighting. On the site, she lists links to friends. They all are the same, spotlighting the digs with their teeth bearing, looking tough, and some even sell DVDs of dogs fighting! All that I found were in the UK, and I know nothing about their laws, but I feel SICK seeing this and knowing these people can make websites and not get caught.
Nothing makes me angrier than people that abuse animals for their personal entertainment.

Ok, I go with Pavic too. You need to report them. Pitbulls are not such bad dogs - it's the people that own them and promote this inhumane practice.
Aside: Although I've never owned a pit bull, the first & only one I ever met was a sweetheart. We owned/show/bred Dobermans for years - back then everyone hated them & they were featured on horror shows. In our home, these lovely dogs played with & protected our kids. Made LOTS of friends for the Doberman breed. That, and the one pit bull I met (who came up to me happy & tail wagging) makes me wonder if pit bulls really deserve their bad rep.
you should report to an animal care foundation. they'll know what to do.

Well me as a pittbul owner and ex breeder thi k that all lebonese people or people with a criminal record should not be allowed to own them. its all we can do till they all are perished from the owner.

In Australia, they are trying to get rid of the dangerous dog breeds, by enforcing sterilisation, and such. Because too many people are getting hurt. I suppose if they can't get the dogs anymore then there won't be any fighting. The police need to really cut down on it. Bring the web site to the attention of your local police and they may be able to follow it up, or advise the UK authorities if it's illegal.
This sort of thing should always be reported to the authorities. If you suspect a neighbour or friend is involved you have to inform the police so that we can put an end to it all once & for all. I really can't imagine what sort ot kicks these people get from this horrible, brutal pastime which CAN only end in death for these poor unfortunate animals.
This is such a hard core and secretive illegal sport that the only way to get information about it is from the inside. It is extremely well organised and movement of the games is agreed to travel spontaneously if the organisers believe they may be about to be broken up. Enthusiasts agree to travel long distances in order to see the fights and are willing to do so because they only care about the chance of seeing brutality and not the inconvenience of a few hundred miles.
The only reason I know this info is not because I am an animal enthusiast but because I am a teacher and we have a course which debates animal cruelty. Such courses allow children to see issues involved in such things as dog fights, fox hunting, vivisection and the fur trade. It is up to the child to make up their own opinions but up to the teacher to inform. Perhaps the more educated a child is the less abusive they become.

They obviously aren't compassionate or kind people, and they probably haven't had the best upbringing. Animal Abuse usually is common among seriel killers.. like Jeffrey Dahmer. I think it's a psychological thing, there has to be something missing that makes them function normal.
Dog Figthing is something that I believe is done for the entertainment and control. They use these dogs for their own personal satisfaction, seeing them die or seeing them attack others. i just think they're all messed up in the head. honestly, it's what makes me racist towards certain races. Mexicans, Blacks, trailor trash. This is kinda rambling.. but it makes sense to me!!

Dog fighting is illegal in the u.k., nowhere is it confined to any racial group.
The people who use this as an excuse to air their own prejudice should be ashamed of themselves. It is absolutely ridiculous to go on about animal welfare and at the same time to be prejudiced against members of your own species because of their colour.
If you contact the RSPCA in refrence to this they will probably ask you for the web site address and get the police involved to track down these people who should not ba allowed to have any sort of animal.
i agree with ragdoll kitty, and further more, soon they will use another breed for fighting dogs and that breed with have the same bad rap as pitties. i have two amstaffs, one was rescued from one of those assholes that fight them and she took a LOT of training to become normal but is now a sweetheart, the other was just born a big softie and is scared of little dogs, espec the tiny chiwuawa that lives opp. us! anyway.as for your question! i contacted the local dog warden when i was in a similar situation, you can get this number from the county council for that area in the UK. he should beable to advise you who to report it to if he cannot help directly. good luck and let us know what happens!
Report it, do what ever it takes get the police. welfare service, RSPCA. My Friend had a pit bull and she was taking it for a walk and some man snatched the dog from her. She has never seen her pit bull again. It was in the paper " if you have a pitbull keep it locked away and thieves are taking them" That was 8 months ago and still no pitbull. Don't know where you are but i'm in the UK. Here everyone is trying to take the pit bulls.
