Pet odour what should I do?
My cat of 17 years has been peeing on the fitted carpet in our hall way its a new carpet that I cant afford to replace - I scrubbed it all yesterday but today it really stank so I poured half a bowl of water and bleach where the smell was coming from - I got the worst of the water up but it still smells very strongly of cats pee - what else can I do? I go away on Fiday and I would like it smelling fresh by then.
Answers:
NEVER use bleach on cat pee! The cats react to the smell by peeing to disperse it. Washing powder or biotex is good. Once you have trained the cat to stop you can really disperse the residual smell by Fabreze.
What should concern you is why your cat is soiling the new carpet. Is it well? Is it stressed? Do you have a litter tray inside?
There are some useful articles on the following site, plus there are tons more websites covering this common problem.
I know what you are going through, so I wish you lots of luck. Whatever you do, don't stop loving your kitty!
Good luck....
These smells will encourage it to keep trying.
Get a bottle of some stuff called odor out, or urine out. they both work prety well.
Urine Gone or Nature' Miracle (or other cleaner with enzymes).
try just putting a bowl of vinegar on top of the carpet for a day or so
BAKING SODA.
i had a problem with my dog pooping and peeing on my carpet, so i would sprinkle it with baking soda before wiping it up--it will absorb all of the liquid it can. gently scoop up the baking soda, shake some more on the stain, and scrub with HOT water and a little bit of liquid soap.
let that dry completely, sprinkle with more baking soda, let that sit a few hours(make sure your cat can't get to it!), then vaccuum.
hope that helps! it has helped me so far! :-)
on the wet patch put down some bicarbonate of sosa all over this will soak up the moisture and then add a few drops of oil onto the bicarb the scent will eliminate the tcpee when dry hoover up works a treat
